MILLI RE 21st INTERNATIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT
PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED
The evaluation process of “Traditional Istanbul Underwriting Center Photograph Competition”, which is organized within the framework of “Milli Re 21st International Tennis Tournament” between the dates 1st-3rd June 2007, is completed and the results are announced.
The photograph competition accepted entries from the participants of the Tournament, and aimed to award the most successful image in catching the most beautiful moment of the Tournament. For achieving this theme, the participants tried hard all throughout the Tournament during when joyous moments were shared.
At the end of a careful evaluation made by the jury consisting of leading figures of the insurance sector, the photo taken by Mr. Christopher Barker is selected as the winner of the competition. The photos of Mr. Turgut Polat and Mr. Nail Ketenci are chosen as, respectively, second and third.

"Fire Damage" Training
The second of sectoral oriented technical trainings by IUC, The Fire Insurance Damage Training, was held in IUC Training Hall in January 19-20. In the meeting, which was presented by the owner of Andıç Law Firm and also an IUC member, Attorney Ayşegül Andıç, the general terms of Fire Insurance and the comparison of TTK articles, enforcements applicable to causing fire, and the legal status of deliberately set fires for the purpose of getting an atonement were discussed, along with sample cases and suggestions. Experts also showed interest in the meeting, along with the attendees from Damage and Law departments of many different insurance companies.
Another activity has been held by IUC which continues it’s series of seminars prepared for the insurance sector. Between 8 -9 December, the very first technical education program on engineering clauses were given by Oktay Gülağacı, an insurance expert and contruction engineer, and Ekkehard Hettler, retired from the reinsurance giant, Munich RE. Many representatives from the insurance sector attended the program, especially from the departments of claim and engineering of insurance companies along with brokers, experts and agencies.
In this seminar, organized by the Association of Young Insurers (GESID), member of IUC explained fire inquiries in the world and in Turkey and its importance for the insurance sector. The seminar was held in November 8, 2006 in National Reassurance Auditorium was supported by Best Re and İstanbul Underwriting Center. During the seminar, Yapı Kredi non-auto damage manager Melike Demirel, Mediterranean University Junior Technical College instructor of fire-fighting and fire-security Prof. Dr. Saadet Alkış, insurance expert Sedat Özcan and another member of IUC, owner of Andıç Law Office, Ayşegül Andıç offered their views on the issue.
The fifth of the “Insurance Fraud” themed seminars was held in IUC, presented by IUC member, owner of Yıldız Onur Law Firm, Lawyer Emre Cüneyt Onur in November 2, 2006. This meeting succeeded to get the attention of many departments in the insurance sector. With the attendance of 65 people from fire, accident and law departments, the seminar informed attendees on fraud and its legal sanctions along with sample cases.
During the day over 400 guests visited the new office and had a briefing about the IUC's vision, mission and future projects.Several presentations were made from the screens mainly about the aim of IUC's being a marketplace for all insurance and reinsurance related entities.
BMS Technologies, an IUC member Company, accomplished the restoration process of a 25.000 m2 covered area full of textile machinery with the supervisio of 25 specialist coming from US especially for this project.
IUC is joining RIMS Conference in Hawaii on 23-27 April where major companies of the insurance world will be present. IUC is the first company joining as an exhibitor from Turkiye. http://www.rims.org
Cargo Claims Management Company Doplhin Maritime & Aviation has joined IUC as a desk member. Dolphin has started its marketing activities in Turkiye with the cooperation of another IUC member RePS Consulting as Dophin's representative for Türkiye and Midle East.
Belgium Broker Vanbreda's Turkish Representative Morat Kortan has moved his office to IUC and became a desk member.
French broker NASCO will become Corporate Member of IUC with effect from 1st of May.
RePS which is serving to Corporate Clients decided to expand its activities to Personal Lines with the establishment of a new department.
IUC Member YETKE as well as author of the event has organized atractive seminar where 45 people attended from the Market on 29th of March in IUC premisses.
